Modbus TCP or Modbus TCP/IP is a Modbus variant used for communications over TCP/IP networks, connecting over port 502.
Modbus TCP/IP uses a client-server model where multiple clients can communicate with the server simultaneously due to the nature of Ethernet networks. This protocol version utilizes a 7-byte Modbus Application Protocol (MBAP) header before the Modbus PDU, which enables the routing of requests and responses over complex network topologies.
